In Norse mythology, the dísir are female spirits who watch over a family across the generations. They are guardians of fate, lineage and home — present at every birth, every passing, every turning point.
They were never meant to be seen. They worked quietly in the background, protecting the household without intruding on it — honored each year at a midwinter rite the Norse called the Dísablót.
A guardian that protects without watching over your shoulder. The moment we read it, we knew.

Why we chose it
The technology should feel like a guardian — not a camera.
Most “smart” care systems watch you like a security guard: lenses in the bedroom, microphones in the hall, a feed streaming to someone else's servers. That isn't protection. That's surveillance wearing protection's clothes.
A dís watches over a family the way we believe a home should: quietly, faithfully, and without ever being seen. It keeps what it knows within the household. It asks for no audience. It simply stays — and keeps everyone safe.
Why we created Dísir Ambient Care
Everyone deserves to Live Independently at home — with their dignity intact.
It usually starts with a parent. A small fall no one heard about for hours. A missed medication. The slow, gnawing worry of a grown child who lives three states away and can't be there at 3 a.m.
The options on the shelf felt like a cruel trade. You could have safety — but only by turning a loved one's home into a surveillance set, with cameras in private rooms and a stranger's company holding the footage. Or you could have privacy, and lie awake wondering. We refused to accept that those were the only two choices.
So we built the alternative we wished existed for our own families: a home that senses without seeing, that thinks for itself on-site, and that never sends a moment of someone's life to the cloud. Camera-free radar instead of lenses. A private mesh instead of the internet. A guardian — not a witness.
We are local to New Hampshire, and we design these systems by hand for the elderly, for people with special needs, and for neurodivergent individuals — anyone who wants to live independently in the home they love, safely, on their own terms.
